Environ 50 ours noirs sont présents dans les forêts côtières de pruches et de cèdres autour de Whistler. Des circuits d'observation des ours vous offrent la possibilité d'observer les ours dans leur environnement naturel et de découvrir leur personnalité et même leur nom.

La plupart des ours se tiennent à l'écart des zones urbaines. Chaque année, on signale cependant des ours noirs sillonnant le village de Whistler et ses lotissements à la recherche de nourriture, notamment dans les poubelles et les mangeoires à oiseaux.

Habitants et touristes sont invités à se renseigner sur les comportements à adopter pour éviter de trouver un ours dans leur jardin, de même qu'à utiliser les poubelles spécifiques « anti-ours » réparties sur l'ensemble du village de Whistler.
