Jeux Olympiques à Whistler

En février 2010, Whistler a été désignée comme station d'accueil officielle des Jeux olympiques et paralympiques d'hiver de 2010 à Vancouver.

Plus de 20 anciens athlètes olympiques et paralympiques vivent dans cette communauté de 9 000 personnes à peine. Ross Rebagliati, qui a remporté la toute première médaille d'or de l'épreuve olympique de snowboarding, a perfectionné ses compétences sur ces pistes.

Whistler Blackcomb, the official alpine skiing venue for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is located on the coast mountains, 125 kilometres (78 miles) from Vancouver.

North America's premier four season mountain resort, Whistler and Blackcomb are two, side-by-side mountains which combined, offer over 200 marked runs, over 3,237 hectares (8,000 acres) of terrain, 14 alpine bowls and three glaciers, receiving on average, over 1,090 centimetres (430 inches) of snow annually, and one of the longest ski seasons in North America.
