La marche en raquettes est l'un des sports d'hiver connaissant le plus fort développement en Amérique du Nord. De plus, la Colombie-Britannique a l'avantage de disposer de chemins, d'une poudreuse et d'un paysage d'hiver pur encourageant la pratique de cette activité.

Aujourd'hui, les raquettes sont légères et faciles à utiliser, et possèdent des crampons (pointes sous la chaussure permettant de grimper ou de descendre des collines), faisant de la marche en raquettes un sport d'hiver facile d'accès pour les familles recherchant une activité de plein air, pour les aventuriers à la recherche d'une activité de cardio, ou pour les passionnés de grands espaces enneigés en silence.

Parcourez les chemins à votre rythme, observez les traces de la faune dans la neige ou admirez les grands arbres séculaires tout en marchant le long de boucles balisées ou sur de la poudreuse fraîche. Vous pouvez aussi aller un peu plus vite : la Colombie-Britannique est la demeure du Yéti, une course en raquettes populaire et le nom de la première collection de raquettes de montagne.

Il y a bien des réseaux de chemins pour les randonnées en raquettes sans guide ; vous pouvez aussi partir accompagné d'un guide. Participez à une excursion en raquettes afin d'explorer une nouvelle zone, d'en savoir plus sur la faune et l'histoire des lieux, ou bien d'initier une soirée aventure qui se finira avec un chocolat chaud ou une fondue.
